Robinson Pleads to Second-Degree Murder in 2014 Shooting of Friend

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces today that Gregory Devalle Robinson, 21, of Jacksonville, pleaded guilty to Second-Degree Murder. Pursuant to the plea agreement, Robinson now faces a maximum of Life in Florida State Prison. He will be sentenced the week of Jan. 22 by the Honorable Linda McCallum.

Robinson was friends with the victim, Adrian Watkins Jr., and lived across the street from him. They both attended First Coast High School before being involved in a group fight at school that resulted in both being expelled. On Jan. 31, 2014, witnesses said Robinson and Watkins walked from an apartment complex together to a nearby park in Northwest Jacksonville. It was there that Robinson shot Watkins three times and fled the scene. Watkins’ body was found in a ditch near the park. The gun used in the crime was found in Robinson’s house.

The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and successfully prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Alan Seth Mizrahi.
