HENDERSON FOUND GUILTY OF ILLEGALLY POSSESSING FIREARM

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Michael Henderson was found guilty by a jury of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Henderson now faces up to 15 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Mark Borello will schedule a sentencing hearing the week of April 12, 2022.

On the evening of Oct. 14, 2021, officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on an SUV in North Jacksonville. Henderson was the driver and only person in the vehicle. While conducting the stop, officers saw marijuana in plain sight on the center console. Henderson was arrested for the drugs and a subsequent search of the car uncovered a loaded firearm and additional ammunition under the driver’s seat. Henderson acknowledged possessing the gun but he was unable to legally do so due to numerous felony convictions, including Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Henderson was arrested on the charge. Further investigation revealed the firearm had Henderson’s DNA on it.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Corie Posey and Carson Sadro.
