Grubb to Serve 25 Years for Carjacking-related Crimes

State Attorney Melissa Nelson today announces that the Honorable Angela M. Cox sentenced Chad Allen Grubb, 41, of Saint Augustine to 25 years in Florida State Prison for Carjacking (Armed with a Deadly Weapon) and Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer; and 15 years in Florida State Prison for Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer. The sentences are concurrent.

Grubb entered a plea on Sept. 19, 2017.

Grubb was arrested after a high-speed police chase on Dec. 23, 2016, on the Northside of Jacksonville. The vehicle was previously stolen in a carjacking at a Mandarin restaurant the previous day. Grubb was spotted in the area of Starratt Road in the stolen vehicle, and failed to stop for multiple law enforcement officers. During the pursuit, Grubb failed to stop at several red lights near the River City Marketplace, reached speeds of 80-90 miles per hour, and struck the side of a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle. The pursuit ended at 4132 Starratt Road after striking a trailer property. Grubb was apprehended with a BB gun inside of the vehicle. The victim positively identified Grubb as the carjacking suspect.

The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and successfully prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney LaTesha Campbell.
