Jacksonville Man Found Guilty of Home Invasion, Rape of Elderly Woman

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces a Duval County jury found Lamont Jackson guilty of Kidnapping; Burglary with Assault or Battery; Sexual Battery; Home Invasion Robbery; Burglary (Structure); and Grand Theft Auto. With the verdicts, Jackson faces a life sentence in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Jonathan Sacks will formally sentence Jackson at a later date.

Just before midnight July 19, 2024, Jackson broke into the 89-year-old victim’s home while she was asleep and raped her. He tied up the victim and rummaged through her purse and stole her wallet and car keys. Jackson then drove off in the victim’s car, and the victim freed herself and called 911. She was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries and underwent a sexual assault examination. Through neighborhood witnesses and surveillance footage, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Narcotics team arrested Jackson on July 21, 2024. During the investigation, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement confirmed another individual’s DNA was found on the victim’s swabs from the sexual assault exam as well as on Jackson’s penile swab. Detectives interviewed the second DNA contributor and learned Jackson sexually assaulted him while he was sleeping in park on the night of July 19, 2024. Further testing revealed both the victim’s DNA and the second DNA’s contributor in Jackson’s underwear.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Khary Gaynor and Daley Pajcic.
