State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces the return by a grand jury of indictments charging eight defendants with First-Degree Murder. With the indictments, each defendant faces a sentence of mandatory life in prison, unless the State provides notice of its intent to seek the death penalty, in accordance with Florida law.

The grand jury returned First-Degree Murder charges for:

• Adam Lawson, S.A. Case No. 17CF018875AD. Lawson also is charged with Grand Theft Auto, Armed Burglary with Assault or Battery, and Possession of a Firearm or Weapon by a Convicted Felon.

• Henry Hayes, S.A. Case No. 16CF014306AD and Kquame Richardson, S.A. Case No. 17CF017277AD. Hayes also is charged with two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder by Discharging a Firearm, Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle, and Possession of Ammunition by a Juvenile Delinquent with a Prior Felony. Richardson also is charged with two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder by Discharging a Firearm, and Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle.

• Dennis Mixon, S.A. Case No. 18CF020750AD. Mixon is also charged with Second-Degree Arson (Structure).

• Marvin Jones, S.A. Case No. 15CF061888AD. Jones also is charged with Burglary with Assault or Battery.

• Barbara Kendrick, S.A. Case No. 17CF013462AD. Kendrick also is charged with Aggravated Child Abuse.

• Branden Bailey, S.A. Case No. 16CF029885. Bailey also is charged with Armed Robbery (Discharge a Firearm with Injury or Death) and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

• Theresa Thomas, S.A. Case No. 17CF035307AD. Thomas also is charged with Armed Burglary with Assault or Battery.
