State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Renard Terrell Gauldin, 21, of Jacksonville, was found guilty by a jury of two counts of Armed Robbery, and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. On March 16, 2018, Gauldin was sentenced to 35 years in Florida State Prison by the Honorable Mark Borello.
On Aug. 9, 2017, the victims were in their apartment playing video games and using DJ equipment when an acquaintance, who knew the two, and Gauldin arrived. Shortly after they arrived, Gauldin and the acquaintance pulled out handguns, made the victims lie on the kitchen floor, and proceeded to rob them. In all, a video game system, cellphones, sneakers, clothes, one of the victim’s gold teeth, and more than $1,300 in cash was stolen. During the robbery, Gauldin and the acquaintance pistol-whipped the victims and poured various food and cleaning products on them as they were lying on the floor. Gauldin and the acquaintance posted pictures of themselves on social media wearing the clothes — and even the teeth — of the victims. Some of the stolen goods were pawned.
The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was successfully prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Lauren Huish and Marleigh Gulliford.
