State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Lenard Crumedy was found guilty by a jury of Sexual Battery (Victim Under 12 Years of Age). Crumedy now faces a mandatory sentence of life in Florida State Prison. The Honorable London Kite will sentence Crumedy the week of March 21, 2022.

On Sept. 17, 2017, Crumedy arrived at the residence of the victim’s mother to take the victim and another minor child to the park to play. When the children returned home, one complained of pain in their rectum and told their mother details of Crumedy’s sexual assault. The victim’s mother called police and the minor victim was taken to the First Coast Child Protection Team for a sexual assault examination and interview. The minor victim told investigators details of the crime; their injuries were consistent with a recent sexual assault. A sexual assault kit submitted to law enforcement returned a DNA match to Crumedy, who was arrested.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Melissa Coll and Alan Mizrahi.
