Hall Found Guilty of First-Degree Murder in 2020 Shooting that Killed 5-year-old Kearria Addison

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Johnathan Hall was found guilty by a jury of First-Degree Murder and three counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder related to the killing of 5-year-old Kearria Addison. Hall previously pleaded guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon from the same crime. With the verdict, Hall faces a mandatory sentence of life in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Anthony Salem will formally sentence Hall in a hearing to be set the week of Nov. 8, 2022.

On April 6, 2020, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to calls of a shooting at a Monaco Drive food store — when they arrived, officers found 5-year-old Kearria Addison suffering a gunshot wound to the head. Surveillance video from the store showed a car pulling into a parking spot at the food store and Hall and several others quickly exiting the vehicle and approaching a male and female victim as they exited the store. Hall and his group began physically beating — including the use of an aluminum baseball bat — the male and female victims. Hall and another suspect chased the male victim and shoot firearms in his direction. Addison was sleeping inside a vehicle in the parking lot when she was struck by one of the bullets. She was transported to the hospital but later pronounced deceased. The investigation led to the victims identifying Hall, inserted himself in an ongoing dispute about $180 being stolen. Hall was arrested and confirmed to be the shooter.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Cameron French and Katelyn Johnston.
