State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Shawn Sieberg was found guilty by a jury of four counts of Sexual Battery and two counts of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation. Immediately after the April 7 verdict, the Honorable Adrian Soud sentenced Sieberg to life in Florida State Prison. Each of the counts are to run consecutively; the court also deemed Sieberg a Sexual Predator.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Special Assault Unit in early 2019 began an investigation into Sieberg after the victim came forward to detail Sieberg’s crimes. Sieberg sexually molested the victim beginning when they were 4 years old. The molestation then progressed to Sieberg regularly having sexual intercourse with the victim until they were a teenager. When the victim confronted Sieberg about the sexual acts as part of a recorded conversation, Sieberg stated remorse and that he would never do it again. Sieberg was subsequently arrested.
The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Jackie Blair and Erin Wolfson.
