State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Carl Steven Mills was found guilty by a jury of Conspiracy to Traffic in Heroin. The Honorable Anthony Salem sentenced Mills as a Habitual Offender to 35 years in Florida State Prison during a May 16, 2022 hearing.

A detailed investigation into Mills and several other coconspirators took place in late 2018 that resulted in ample evidence of Mills taking part in an operation to purchase, move, repackage, and sell illegal narcotics. Search warrants executed in January 2019 on two Mills properties and a car resulted in a seizure of heroin, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, molly, marijuana, a handgun, and almost $45,000 in cash. Based on the evidence attained throughout the investigation, Mills was arrested.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Rich Giglio and Ju Young Jang.
