State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Stacey Bartley has pleaded guilty to three counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Shooting or Throwing Deadly Missiles, Aggravated Assault of a Minor, Tampering with a Witness, and two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Pursuant to the plea agreement, the Honorable Tatiana Salvador sentenced Bartley to more than 16 years in Florida State Prison followed by four years of probation.

The charges stemmed from two separate incidents, both in February 2020.

In the first, Bartley fired a handgun several times at a car leaving a local fast-food restaurant. The car was occupied by two minor children and their father, who went to the restaurant for a custody exchange. Bartley was in a relationship with the children’s mother at the time. The incident was captured on the restaurant’s surveillance system.

In the second, Bartley became upset with his girlfriend’s child who he believed had taken money from him. Bartley grabbed the child, pressed him against a refrigerator, and threatened to use the gun he was holding if he didn’t learn where his money was. The child’s mother contacted law enforcement.

Bartley, a convicted felon, was legally prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Blake Adams.
