Jury Finds Youngblood Guilty of Illegal Possession of a Firearm

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Antonio Youngblood guilty of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. With the verdict, Youngblood faces up to 15 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Lindsay Tygart will sentence Youngblood at a later date.

On Nov. 4, 2022, an officer with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was patrolling in the area of Moncrief Road when he saw a vehicle run the red light at the intersection of Moncrief Road and Myrtle Avenue North. The officer conducted a traffic stop and asked Youngblood for his license. As Youngblood was rummaging through the vehicle to look for his ID, the officer smelled an odor of marijuana and had Youngblood step out of the car. The officer conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and found a handgun tucked underneath the driver seat. The backstrap of the handgun was facing the front of the vehicle as if the firearm had just been placed there. Youngblood is a previously convicted felon and is not legally allowed to possess a firearm. Youngblood’s DNA and a swab from the firearm was sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement laboratory. The lab found Youngblood’s DNA on the weapon.

The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Daniel Cardenas and Michael Eckhart.
