State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Enrique Carranza III was found guilty by a jury of Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Requirements. The Honorable Tatiana Salvador has scheduled a sentencing hearing for April 11, 2023.

Carranza had been previously convicted of Attempted Sexual Assault on a Child in Colorado. In 2021, Carranza moved to Florida to start working construction but failed to register as a sex offender after being notified several times. He was arrested months later as a result. After being released, Carranza was told he must report to DMV within 48 hours to receive a Florida ID with sex offender markings so his information could be uploaded into the statewide database. He failed to do so and was arrested again six weeks later.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Jackie Blair.
