State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces a Duval County jury found Daisean Biffle guilty of First-Degree Murder for the shooting death of Ebony Nicholas. With the verdict, Biffle faces a mandatory life sentence in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Kevin Blazs will formally sentence Biffle on a future date.

On the morning of Sept. 29, 2020, Biffle and Nicholas, who were in a relationship and shared two children, had a domestic dispute. Nicholas then went to work that evening at an Amazon Fulfillment Center, arriving around 6:30 p.m. Biffle also worked at the center but was not scheduled to work that evening. He drove to the center around 7 p.m. while Nicholas was working. When he arrived, Biffle entered the building, using his Amazon employee badge, and searched the facility for Nicholas. The two briefly began to argue before Nicholas attempted to leave the area. Biffle then took out his firearm and shot Nicholas several times before shooting himself once. Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department pronounced Nicholas deceased at the facility and transported Biffle to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Detectives recovered the handgun from the scene and discovered Biffle had two additional loaded magazines on him at the time of the shooting.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Chyna Makarowski, Trey Atkinson, and Corie Posey.
