State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Timothy Brown guilty of Second-Degree Murder. With the verdict, Brown faces up to life in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Mark Borello will sentence Brown at a later date.

On Aug. 22, 2021, officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a motel on Airport Road and found the victim shot multiple times. The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. Detectives recovered seven 9mm casings in the parking lot of the motel. Two witnesses spoke to detectives and identified Brown as the person who shot and killed the victim. They told the police the victim was unarmed during the shooting. The witnesses both positively identified Brown in a photospread.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Trey Atkinson and Chris Huband.
