State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found T’Juan Williams guilty of Attempted Manslaughter; Resisting Officer Without Violence; and Trespass to a Structure or Conveyance. With the verdict, Williams faces up to five years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Jonathan Sacks will sentence Williams at a later date.

On Aug. 31, 2023, a man picked up a woman at a house party and was driving her home when a car with four men began shooting at them on 103rd Street. One of the bullets hit their tire and disabled their vehicle, leaving them a sitting target as the four men continued to shoot at them. Two officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office were completing reports at the end of their shift on 103rd Street when they heard the gunfire. The officers immediately drove toward the sound of gunfire and witnessed people firing shots from a white sedan toward a sports car that was disabled on the side of the road. The officers activated their emergency lights and sirens, and the white sedan sped off leading police on a 37-mile chase across Jacksonville. At one point, the white sedan reached 130 mph. Officers were able to stop the car with a P.I.T. maneuver. Four men wearing ski masks and gloves jumped out of the sedan and ran, continuing the police chase. One officer chased Williams and took him into custody. The three others were also arrested. Officers determined that the white sedan was a stolen vehicle.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Marcus Isom and Brittany Johnson.
