State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that William Broyles pleaded guilty to three counts of First-Degree Murder for the 2021 killing of his family. Following his plea, the Honorable Stephen Fahlgren sentenced Broyles to life in Florida State Prison.

On Dec. 1, 2021, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from Broyles, who told dispatchers he had shot his wife, son, and daughter, and was outside waiting for police in his driveway. When officers responded to Broyles’ Callahan home, they found him lying on his back in the driveway, where he was detained. Inside, officers found three people — two females and a male — dead from gunshot wounds.

After his arrest and post-Miranda, Broyles admitted to shooting the three and went into detail as to how he committed the crimes.

The case was investigated by the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Alan Mizrahi.
