State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Clay County jury found Timothy Finley guilty of two counts of Sale, Manufacture, or Delivery of Methamphetamine and one count of Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communications Device. With the verdict, Finley faces up to 35 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Don Lester will sentence Finley at a later date.
On October 21, 2021, and November 16, 2021, Clay County Sheriff’s Office detectives conducted undercover controlled purchases of narcotics involving a confidential informant. The confidential informant wore a recording device and was given Clay County Drug Task Force Funds for the purchases. For each of the controlled buys, the confidential informant met Finley outside of his Middleburg home, and Finley grabbed the narcotics from his vehicle. For the controlled purchase in October, Finley used his cell phone to set up the drug deal. The narcotics were sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement laboratory for analysis, and they tested positive for methamphetamine.
The case was investigated by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys David Gilbert and Brandi Moravek.
