State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Phillip Bylock guilty of Sexual Battery, three counts of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation, and Unnatural or Lascivious Act. With the verdict, Bylock faces a mandatory life sentence in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Jonathan Sacks will sentence Bylock at a later date.

On Feb. 21. 2023, Department of Children and Families reported to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office a child victim was being sexually abused by Bylock, a family member. The investigation revealed the abuse spanned multiple years.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Children and Families and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Marleigh Gulliford and Catie Messinger.
