State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Daniel Leclerc guilty of two counts of Sexual Battery, Lewd or Lascivious Exhibition, and Showing Obscene Materials to a Minor. With the verdict, Leclerc faces a mandatory life sentence in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Jeb Branham will sentence Leclerc at a later date.
Between August 2018 and May 2019, Leclerc would babysit an 11-year-old victim while her mother worked the night shift. During that time alone with the child, Leclerc would sexually abuse her. He did so numerous times until it was finally reported to the police. The investigation uncovered Leclerc would also show pornography to the child when her mother wasn’t home. The jury also heard Williams Rule testimony from another victim regarding the sexual abuse she endured from Leclerc.
The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Terence Martin and Ashleigh Bateh.
