State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Enderson Hernandez Cruz guilty of Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement. After the verdict, the Honorable Meredith Charbula sentenced Hernandez Cruz to 19 months in Florida State Prison followed by a 2-year driver’s license suspension.

On June 11, 2023, officers were on patrol looking for a specific vehicle involved in an alleged stabbing. Officers spotted the vehicle on Old Middleburg and Argyle Forest Boulevard. An officer attempted to stop Hernandez Cruz — who was driving — but he would not pull over. Two officers turned on their emergency lights and sirens, and Hernandez Cruz sped off at over 100 mph. Hernandez Cruz finally stopped on Staples Mill Drive and hesitated to get out of the vehicle. He was eventually taken into custody. Three people were in the back seat and the person of interest in the alleged stabbing was in the passenger seat.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Katerina Krohn and Carolyn Auchter.
