State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Roland Jackson guilty of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. With the verdict, Jackson faces up to 15 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Lindsay Tygart will sentence Jackson at a later date.

On April 12, 2024, officers with the District 4 Violent Crime Task Force were patrolling Lane Avenue when they spotted a car with illegal tint. The car was pulled over for a traffic stop on Lane Avenue and Bakersfield. As the officer approached the car, he smelled an odor of marijuana and saw Jackson — the front seat passenger — throw a gun into the glove box. Officers conducted a probable cause search where they found a loaded revolver in the glove box. Jackson is a previously convicted felon and is not legally allowed to possess a firearm.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Loana Nardoni and Kierstyn Jennings.
