State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Brice Pichardo guilty of Attempted Second-Degree Murder with a Weapon. With the verdict, Pichardo faces up to 30 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Anthony Salem will sentence Pichardo at a later date.

On Aug. 27, 2025, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office went to a Mikael Avenue home after receiving a call about a person stabbed. When they arrived, multiple witnesses told police that Pichardo was the suspect and had run away after he stabbed the victim. Witnesses gave a detailed description of what Pichardo looked like and wore. Officers located him at a nearby restaurant and, when they approached, Pichardo began making spontaneous statements regarding self-defense.

A witness told police he and another other witness were behind a shopping center when Pichardo approached them, apparently intoxicated, with a large knife. The witness followed Pichardo when he walked away and saw him enter the side yard of a nearby home and stab the victim unprovoked. The victim later told police Pichardo was threatening neighbors and demanded he leave when Pichardo unleashed his dog to attack the victim, then stabbed him repeatedly. The victim had to undergo brain surgery as a result of the attack.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Fallon Hinkley and Kelli Shobe.
