State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Steven Bailey guilty of two counts of Aggravated Battery. The Honorable London Kite sentenced Bailey to 30 years in Florida State Prison at a sentencing hearing on February 12.

On April 9, 2022, officers responded to a Northside home where two men were shot outside. The victims told investigators they were going to Bailey’s house to buy marijuana. They knocked on the door and Bailey fired shots at them. One victim ran and the other fell to the ground; both sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Bailey gave consent to the officers to search his home; inside, they recovered six firearms and prepackaged marijuana in bags.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Susan Haag and Corie Powell.
