State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Milton Banks guilty of Sexual Battery and Lewd or Lascivious Molestation. With the verdict, Banks faces a mandatory life sentence in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Tatiana Salvador will formally sentence Banks at a later date.

On Aug. 12, 2023, a five-year-old and 11-year-old victim disclosed to their parent that Banks, who was 31, sexually abused them. When the victims’ mother confronted Banks, he fled the scene. The University of Florida Child Protective Team conducted forensic interviews with the victims. Banks had been staying with the family for a few months when the rape and molestation occurred.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Clare Kelly and Kate Bedell.
