State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found David Williams guilty of Armed Robbery, Armed Robbery While Wearing a Mask, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Resisting an Officer Without Violence. With the verdict, Williams faces up to life in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Tatiana Salvador will sentence Williams at a later date.

At approximately 4 p.m. Nov. 23, 2024, police responded to an armed robbery at a McDuff Avenue business. The victims reported an armed man came into the business, grabbed cash, stole a victim's cellphone, and then drove off. The robbery was captured on surveillance video. Victims provided a description of the truck they saw leaving the area, and one victim tracked the location of her stolen phone and relayed that information to emergency dispatchers. Officers located the truck in the area and conducted a stop. Williams ran from the truck but was quickly apprehended. During the investigation, officers recovered the stolen cellphone. A search of the vehicle revealed the stolen cash in the glove box and the gun used in the robbery hidden under the passenger seat where Williams had been sitting.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Elizabeth Brown and Joseph Ciliberto.
