State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Kenyannya Wilcox guilty of Criminal Use of Personal Identification, Official Misconduct, Battery, and Stalking. With the verdict, Wilcox faces up to 10 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable London Kite will formally sentence Wilcox at a later date.
The victim, who was in an administrative leadership position at a local middle school, and Wilcox dated from approximately November 2020 to February 2021. On Sept. 19, 2021, the victim was at a Jaguars game when Wilcox unexpectedly approached him. When the victim informed Wilcox he was now in a relationship with another woman, Wilcox got angry. As the victim tried to leave the stadium, Wilcox confronted him and punched him in the face. Wilcox, who was the Assistant Principal at Jean Ribault High School at the time, then threatened to ruin the victim’s career.
The next day, on Sept. 20, 2021, several leaders of the Duval County School Board, including the Duval County Schools superintendent, received a complaint from someone using an email address bearing the name of a parent of a Jean Ribault High School student. The complainant, however, indicated that she wished to remain anonymous. The complaint falsely accused the victim of selling drugs to minors and operating an illegal gambling ring. The Duval County School Police investigated and determined the allegations to be baseless. A parallel forensic investigation discovered that Wilcox created the bogus e-mail address to send the false complaint. The parent whose name was used did not know Wilcox and did not give Wilcox permission to use her name.
The case was investigated by the Duval County School Police and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Joe Licandro and Kierstyn Jennings.
