State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that William McNeil and Tynisha McNeil were found guilty by juries of numerous sex crimes against children. William McNeil was found guilty of Sexual Battery (Victim Under 12); Lewd or Lascivious Molestation (Victim under 12); Lewd or Lascivious Exhibition (Victim Under 16); Showing Obscene Materials to a Minor; two counts of Sexual Battery (Victim 12-18 Years Old); and two counts of Lewd or Lascivious Battery (Victim Under 16). Tynisha McNeil was found guilty of two counts of Sexual Battery. With the verdicts, both defendants face up to life in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Jonathan Sacks will sentence both defendants at a later date.

The investigation began in late 2020 after a minor victim disclosed to a therapist about William McNeil’s sexual abuse against her. William McNeil was arrested in January 2021 and has been incarcerated since then. Further investigation involved a search warrant on his home, which uncovered a multitude of evidence including videos and pictures of child pornography and sexual abuse against minors. The investigation revealed four minor victims. The victims were able to corroborate significant details of the sexual abuse committed against each other.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Erin Wolfson and Rachel Algee.
