State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Jerry Lee Myers was found guilty by a jury of five counts of Sexual Battery, one count of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation, and two counts of Lewd or Lascivious Conduct. With the verdict, Myers faces a mandatory sentence of life in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Jeb Branham will sentence Myers at a later date.

The investigation began in October 2021 after a report of a sexual battery on a female child victim. The victim told investigators Myers had committed numerous sexual offenses against her in the past year. Myers was dating the victim’s mother and they all lived together in a home in Jacksonville. Myers threatened to harm the victim if she reported his abuse, but eventually it came to light when the victim told her mother.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Terence Martin and Jackie Blair.
