DUVAL COUNTY JURY FINDS NIPPER GUILTY OF GRAND LARCENY

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Courtney Nipper guilty of Grand Larceny by Unauthorized Credit Card Use. With the verdict, Nipper faces up to 5 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Mark Borello will sentence Nipper at a later date.

On Feb. 3, 2022, an officer with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was called to a Southside marketing company for a fraud investigation. The company’s CEO and human resources director advised the JSO officer that Nipper was a former employee who was fired on Jan. 6, 2022. Nipper worked for the company since Nov. 14, 2016, and had access to the company credit cards. The human resources director said Nipper would use her personal Amazon account to order approved items for the office, but Nipper was notified via email on Nov. 2, 2021, that the company opened their own Amazon account and Nipper should no longer order off her Amazon account. Between Aug. 2, 2021. and Jan. 2, 2022, Nipper charged more than $2,000 of items to company credit cards fraudulently. The items ranged from a kitchen sink to birthday party supplies. Many of the purchases were from Amazon, but there were other purchases from Home Depot, Hobby Lobby, and Kirkland’s.

The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Lee Wingard Jr. and Bradley Tune.
