JURY FINDS MCBRIDE GUILTY OF POSSESSION OF A FIREARM BY A CONVICTED FELON
State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces a Duval County jury found Anthony McBride, Jr. guilty of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. McBride is facing up to 15 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Tatiana Salvador will sentence Jackson during the week of June 6.
On Aug. 22, 2021, an officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office’s Community Problem Response Unit was patrolling near Ardoon Street when the officer noticed a car illegally parked on the wrong side of the street in front of a home. McBride was in the driver’s seat. McBride told the officer he dropped a friend off at the home. The officer noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the car. The officer put McBride in handcuffs and searched the car. The officer found a firearm between the driver’s seat and center console with 13 live 9 mm rounds in the chamber. McBride is a convicted felon and is not allowed to legally possess a firearm.
The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Kendall Briley and Jessica Curtis.
