State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces today that Reinier Fundora-Martinez, 51, of Hialeah, was found guilty by a jury of six counts of Knowingly Participating in an Intentional Motor Vehicle Crash and one count of Organized Fraud. Fundora-Martinez now faces a maximum of 105 years in prison in Florida State Prison. A sentencing hearing is scheduled before the Honorable Marianne Lloyd Aho on Aug. 28, 2017.

Fundora-Martinez worked in conjunction with multiple bogus massage therapy clinics and recruited several individuals to participate in a series of intentional motor vehicle accidents in 2011 and 2012. The scams cost insurance companies more than $150,000.

The case was investigated by Department of Financial Services, Division of Investigative & Forensic Services and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Joe Licandro and Amanda Parker.
