Duval County Jury Finds Coring Guilty of Armed Robbery of Gas Station

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces a Duval County jury found Charles Coring III guilty of Armed Robbery while Wearing a Mask or Hood and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. With the verdict, Coring faces up to life in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Anthony Salem will sentence Coring at a later date.

On April 15, 2026, a woman was working the overnight shift at the Cassat Avenue Daily’s convenience store. Around 3:40 in the morning, she was taking cash from the register to the safe when Coring came into the store wearing a backpack, a hoodie, a ski mask, gloves, and holding a gun. Coring pointed the gun at the woman and demanded the money. She handed over the cash and Coring ran. Surveillance cameras from inside and outside the Daily’s captured the robbery. Coring is a previously convicted felon and was not legally allowed to possess a firearm. Coring was eventually arrested based on surveillance from surrounding businesses and a home that showed him returning to his vehicle. Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office detectives determined Coring was the owner of the vehicle and that he matched the suspect description and video surveillance from the robbery. Coring’s cell phone also put him at the scene of the crime. When Coring was apprehended two days later driving the same vehicle, officers found the backpack, hoodie, and glove he was wearing during the robbery.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Trinity Turinetti and Rachel Duckworth.
