State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Tammy Shereese Wright-Conner, 44, of Jacksonville, was found guilty by a jury of Second-Degree Murder. Wright-Conner now faces a maximum of Life in Florida State Prison. Sentencing is to be set the week of June 25 by the Honorable Linda McCallum.

On June 10, 2015, the body of Ronald Trotter was found in Wright-Conner’s residence after he was reported missing more than a week earlier by his wife. Cellphone records showed Wright-Conner was the last person with whom the victim made contact. Additional records showed cellphone usage by Wright-Conner and the victim placed both near Wright-Conner’s residence. Further investigation revealed Trotter’s decomposing body inside her residence. Wright-Conner had used sheets and plastic to seal the windows, along with cleaners and air fresheners to mask the strong odor. It was determined Trotter suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Witnesses later told investigators Wright-Conner confessed to killing Trotter, while one said she offered to pay him to move the body from her residence.

The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and is being prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Ashley Young and Cameron French.
