State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Tyler Jackson was found guilty by a jury of Possession of a Firearm by a Juvenile Delinquent Found to Have Committed a Felony Act. With a gang enhancement, Jackson now faces up to 30 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Meredith Charbula will sentence Jackson at a later date.

On April 3, 2018, a music video featuring Jackson was uploaded to YouTube that showed several individuals brandishing firearms. Jackson, a documented member of a street gang who had previously been convicted as a juvenile delinquent, was one of the individuals who possessed a firearm. Investigation revealed the video was filmed at a home in Northwest Jacksonville and a longtime firearms expert who specialized in weapon identification reviewed the music video over several days to identify the gun as a genuine Zastava PAP M85NP caliber 5.56x455mm pistol. Jackson’s criminal history made it illegal for him to possess a firearm; he was arrested in August 2019.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Leah Owens and Tom Mangan.
