Caldwell Found Guilty for Aggravated Fleeing from Law Enforcement

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury has found Kabreshia Caldwell guilty of Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer and Resisting Officer Without Violence. With the verdict, Caldwell is facing up to 15 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Judge Tatiana Salvador will sentence Caldwell at a later date.

On March 9, 2023, troopers with Florida Highway Patrol pulled Caldwell over for illegal window tint as she was driving south on I-295. The trooper says Caldwell was visibly nervous, shaking when she handed over her license, and spilling her coffee while talking to him. The trooper instructed the K9 officer on scene to conduct a free air sniff of the car due to Caldwell’s nervous behavior. The trooper asked Caldwell to get out of the vehicle and she refused. Once the K9 and trooper made it to the left side of Caldwell’s vehicle, Caldwell put the car into drive and fled the scene. The troopers initiated their siren and lights and pursued Caldwell. She exited the highway onto Collins Road and turned into a shopping plaza before turning back onto Collins Road.  The troopers continued to pursue Caldwell on Collins Road where Caldwell’s speed was clocked at 130-mph at one point in a 35-mph zone. Eventually, Caldwell turned into the Oakleaf Town Center, driving at high speeds through the parking lot before troopers performed a PIT maneuver in front of a store where she got out the car and ran inside the store, attempting to evade officers. The troopers arrested her inside the store.

The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Lee Wingard Jr. and Jalisa Curtis.
