State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Clay County jury has found Christopher Henderson guilty of Felony Battery. With the verdict, Henderson faces up to five years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable James E. Kallaher will sentence Henderson at a later date.

On April 6, 2023, Henderson was in a Clay County hospital where his infant was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The child’s doctor — the victim — was performing a routine exam on the opioid-dependent infant to discharge the baby from the hospital. A nurse was in the room for the entire incident. The doctor was looking at the infant’s eyes when Henderson got off the couch and yelled at the doctor saying, “you don’t (expletive) pull a baby’s eyes open like that!” Henderson violently shoved the doctor away from the infant and yelled more expletives. The doctor and nurse both backed away and left the room, then they called the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to report the incident.

The case was investigated by Clay County Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Richard Natto Jr. and Hector Murcia Bustos.
