State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Darius Wyche guilty of Trafficking in Substituted Cathinone. With the verdict, Wyche faces up to 30 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable London Kite will sentence Wyche at a later date.

During a citywide drug-bust operation on April 29, 2023, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit was undercover on Union Street. Wyche approached the undercover officer and agreed to sell the undercover officer “molly” for $20. The undercover officer used JSO funds to buy the drugs. When the transaction was completed, Wyche was arrested. Officers searched Wyche and found a trafficking amount of illegal narcotics on him. The drugs were tested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab and came back positive as substituted cathinone, which is a controlled substance.

The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Ju Young Jang and Corie Posey.
