State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Shane Kizziah guilty of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. With the verdict, Kizziah faces up to 15 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Tatiana Salvador will sentence Kizziah at a later date.

On April 24, 2023, an officer with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Yellow Bluff Road for reports of a person shot. Kizziah was sitting on the back porch of the home bleeding. Kizziah told the officer he was shot in his left arm. A witness at the scene told the officer that Kizziah had been talking about people following him and watching him for days. The witness said Kizziah had the firearm on him the entire day, and she left him sitting on the floor of her bedroom holding the firearm. When the witness left the room, she heard a gunshot. Officers located the firearm hidden in the rafters of the garage. Kizziah is a previously convicted felon and is not legally allowed to possess a firearm.

The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Dillon Rheuby and LaTesha Campbell.
