State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Clay County jury found Larry Hill guilty of Battery on an Emergency Medical Care Provider. With the verdict, Hill faces up to five years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable James Kallaher will sentence Hill at a later date.
On April 14, 2024, Hill was at HCA Florida Hospital for chest pain. The victim was the charge nurse on duty. Hill brought pills with him to the hospital, and the victim took the pills away, per hospital policy. In response, Hill took his cane and beat the victim with it, striking his head and face. An officer with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office was working off-duty security for the hospital and was called to Hill’s room during the attack. When the officer arrived, the victim was outside the room with blood on his face; several hospital staff members were inside the room attempting to restrain Hill. His cane was on the floor, and the victim’s blood was found on the door frame. Multiple nurses and doctors witnessed the attack. Hill was immediately arrested.
The case was investigated by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Richard Natto Jr. and Hector Murcia Bustos.
