Duval County Jury Finds Macias Guilty of Battery on an Officer

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces a Duval County jury found Justin Macias guilty of Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting an Officer without Violence, and Trespass to Property Other Than Structure/Conveyance. With the verdict, Macias faces up to 5 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Mark Borello will sentence Macias at a later date.

On June 1, 2026, officers responded to a fast-food restaurant on Normandy Boulevard after Macias was asked to leave and he refused. The business asked for Macias to be formally trespassed, and the officer advised Macias he was not allowed to be on site and could not return for a year. Macias remained at the restaurant and again refused to leave. The officer grabbed Macias and Macias resisted. Backup officers arrived to help put Macias in handcuffs; Macias mule kicked the officer at least one time while the officer tried to put him in his patrol car.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Joseph Ciliberto and Robin Jones.
