State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Jason Grant guilty of Attempted Second-Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. With the verdict, Grant faces up to 45 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable London Kite will sentence Grant at a later date.

On April 20, 2024, Grant and his wife were in a fight, and she went to hang out with the victim. The victim and Grant’s wife share three children together. The wife got a call stating Grant was waiting for her to get home. The victim drove her home and dropped her off; as the victim drove away, Grant stepped out of the nearby bushes and shot at him. Both the wife and her son witnessed Grant shooting at the victim. Grant is also a previously convicted felon and is not legally allowed to possess a firearm.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Jalisa Curtis and Brittany Johnson.
