State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Lil Eddie Griffin Jr. guilty of Attempted Robbery. With the verdict, Griffin faces up to 10 years in Florida State Prison as a Habitual Violent Felony Offender. The Honorable Mark Borello will sentence Griffin at a later date.

On Nov. 4, 2023, Griffin asked the victim for a ride and to borrow his phone to make a call. The victim agreed to let Griffin use his phone and stood by as he made a call. When the victim took his phone back, Griffin got angry with him and attempted to fight the victim. Griffin put his arm around the victim’s neck and reached into the victim’s sweater pocket to try to snatch his phone and car keys. The victim was able to get away from Griffin and called police.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Lizzie Brown and Chyna Makarowski.
