State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Jeis Cosme Rosario guilty of Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer. With the verdict, Rosario faces up to 15 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Tatiana Salvador will sentence Rosario at a later date.

On April 20, 2024, an officer with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office’s Violent Crime Task Force saw Rosario driving north on Lakeshore Boulevard with illegal tint on her front windshield. The officer attempted to stop her, but Rosario sped down Royce Avenue. The officer witnessed her run multiple stop signs as she was driving 60-70 miles per hour in a neighborhood where the speed limit is 30 miles per hour. The officer called in backup officers who were nearby and able to intercept Rosario. Both Rosario and a 9-year-old passenger in the front seat were not wearing their seatbelts during the chase. Rosario also had a suspended license out of Volusia County; she was cited for traffic violations and arrested on scene for Aggravated Fleeing.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Trinity Angell Turinetti and Nicholas Salatino.
