State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Isaiah Stewart guilty of Armed Robbery. With the verdict, Stewart faces up to life in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Tatiana Salvador will sentence Stewart at a later date.

At about 3 a.m. Aug. 14, 2023, officers responded to McDuff Avenue gas station for an armed robbery. A mother and daughter were working the overnight shift when Stewart walked in wearing a ski mask and holding a revolver. He demanded cash and lottery tickets. The women complied and handed over the cash and tickets. Stewart was wearing distinctive pants and green-and-blue gloves. The suspect and clothing description matched the MO from a previous armed robbery reported to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The Florida Lottery Division of Security provided an itemized list of lottery tickets that were stolen and information on where Stewart attempted to cash them. Surveillance footage from the location where Stewart attempted to cash the stolen lottery tickets provided officers with enough information to identify and locate him. During his arrest, officers found a lottery ticket inside his car that matched one of the stolen tickets, the green-and-blue gloves, and Stewart was wearing the same pants he wore while committing the robbery. Additionally, his cell site data confirmed he was at the scene of the crime.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Carleshia Jimerson and Trinity Turinetti.
