State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Michael Gordon guilty of Trafficking in Cocaine and Possession of Over 20 Grams of Cannabis. With the verdict, Gordon faces up to 35 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable L.E. Hutton will sentence Gordon at a later date.

On Jan. 19, 2021, a detective with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office intercepted a package at United Parcel Service (UPS) containing one kilogram of cocaine. The suspicious package was addressed to a vacant apartment in Jacksonville. Evidence showed that Gordon orchestrated shipping the narcotics from Las Vegas to Jacksonville. JSO narcotics detectives then began a comprehensive investigation into Gordon’s activities for the next five months. The investigation revealed Gordon’s connections to multiple suspicious or confirmed illegal parcels containing narcotics shipped from California and Nevada to Jacksonville several times a month. Investigation revealed that Gordon would frequently fly to the west coast to ship narcotics directly to Jacksonville via UPS and Fed Ex. After a search warrant was executed, investigators confiscated more than 25 pounds of marijuana in shipping packages inside Gordon’s apartment, digital scales, shipping labels, shipping and money order receipts, other shipping materials, and various paraphernalia.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Joe Licandro and Rich Giglio.
