OWNER OF JACKSONVILLE FENCE COMPANY SENTENCED FOR ORGANIZED FRAUD
State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that the Honorable Tatiana Salvador sentenced Glen Northrup to one year in Duval County jail followed by 12 years of probation for Organized Fraud. As a part of Northrup’s sentence, he is ordered to pay $55,306 in restitution to the victims. Northrup previously pleaded guilty to the charge during a Sept. 14, 2023, hearing.
Northrup is the owner of Father and Sons Fence Company in Jacksonville, which he opened in 2004. Between January 2022 and April 2022, Northrup took down deposits from more than 20 customers to install fences for their properties. Northrup never began the work, and he never returned the customers’ deposits. News4Jax interviewed Northrup while the investigation was ongoing, and Northrup said the pandemic and an eviction caused him to fall on hard times. The investigation found 25 victims. Northrup stole a combined $55,306.
“He ran a reputable business until he did not run a reputable business. Mr. Northrup is not the first businessman in the history of Jacksonville or any other community to recognize that there comes a time to stop. There’s a point at which you have to close the doors and when someone wants to give you money, you tell them ‘No, I can’t continue to take your money because I won’t be able to do your work,’” First Assistant Stephen Siegel told the court during the sentencing hearing.
The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by First Assistant Stephen Siegel.
