JURY FINDS PIERRE GUILTY OF POSSESSION OF A FIREARM BY A CONVICTED FELON

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Jean Pierre guilty of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Pierre faces up to 30 years in Florida State Prison as a Habitual Felony Offender. The Honorable Judge Mark Borello will sentence Pierre during the week of July 3, 2023.

Around 2 a.m. Dec. 10, 2022, Pierre and three others were hanging out in a home. There were children present in the home in a back room. Pierre became irate, and witnesses say he pulled out a gun and waived it around all occupants of the home. Pierre ordered everyone into the living room, including the children. A witness attempted to grab the gun from Pierre and during the struggle, the gun discharged into the ceiling.

Pierre is not legally allowed to possess a firearm because he is a convicted felon.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Megan Sowell and Trey Atkinson.
