Duval County Jury Finds Burns Guilty of Murder-for-Hire of his Wife
Elder Abuse Fatality Review Team (EAFRT)
Since September 2020, the Elder Abuse Fatality Review Team (EAFRT) has established a local team to review closed elder abuse cases that resulted in an individual’s death. The deaths were caused by, or related to, abuse or neglect. The team will review cases in Clay, Duval, and Nassau counties and consider facts that led to the fatal incident.
The goal is to identify potential gaps or problems and develop approaches to address the causes of death.
State lawmakers in 2020 established legislation, signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, that allows judicial circuits to establish EAFRTs. The Fourth Judicial Circuit is the first in Florida to establish such a team, with the state attorney convening the first meeting in September 2020.
This dedicated web page will serve as the official page of the Fourth Circuit EAFRT and will be regularly updated with public notices for meetings, agendas, and any relevant material for the work of the local team.
