State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Keyon Paige was found guilty by a jury of Manslaughter with a Firearm, Armed Burglary, Burglary of a Dwelling, and Grand Theft. The Honorable Mark Borello sentenced Paige to 40 years in Florida State Prison during a June 2, 2022, hearing.

On Feb. 11, 2020, members of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a Hyde Park home in reference to a well-being check on the victim. An employee from the victim’s work requested the check-in because the victim did not show up for two of his scheduled shifts and they had not heard from the victim since Feb. 6. When they entered the home, the officers observed the victim on the kitchen floor dead from an apparent gunshot wound to his head. Detectives reviewed the house’s video surveillance footage and observed Paige enter and exit the home multiple times Feb. 6-7 and take multiple bags and a rifle.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Lauren Randall and Brooke Gasson.
